Benetton opens a new megastore in Cardiff

Ponzano, 12 October 2000. Benetton scores a try on the home ground of one of the protagonists of the Six Nations Rugby Tournament. The Group itself will manage a new, spacious – over 1,000 square metres – megastore opening in Cardiff, in one of the Welsh capital's busiest shopping centres.

The new two-floor megastore occupies a prime position in the Capitol Shopping Centre, with an entrance from Queen Street in the heart of a pedestrian area full of shopping and entertainment opportunities. The store will stock the full range of United Colors of Benetton clothes collections for women, men, children and underwear as well as a wide choice of accessories. Collections for women and men, and accessories, are on the ground floor while the first floor features women's and children's collections.

The interior design of Benetton's megastore creates a relaxed and elegant atmosphere. The predominantly white decor forms a neutral, harmonious background, highlighting colours and styles of the clothes on display and making it easier for customers to browse and choose. The only splashes of colour are green and orange which guide customers respectively towards the cash desks and stairs and lifts.

The new megastore in Cardiff is part of Benetton's sales organisation's development plan that aims to support and foster the growth of its worldwide network with shops – including those under Benetton's own management – that distinguish themselves for their size, their prestigious setting in historical town and commercial centres, and the high level of customer services they offer.

Furthermore, in the first nine months of 2000 new megastores were opened in, amongst others: Moscow, the biggest single-brand store in Russia; Hamburg, one of the biggest Benetton megastores in Germany; Athens, Milan and in Rome where the store was opened in Termini Station's exciting new retail area.

Other Benetton megastores will soon be opening in Paris, Brussels, Vienna, Tokyo, New York and Atlanta.
