Awards Luciano Benetton Doctor of Fine Arts Honorary Degree

 
New York, 25 May 2018 - At Radio City Music Hall in New York City, Luciano Benetton was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Fine Arts by the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT).
 
During the commencement ceremony, which involved more than 3,800 students, Luciano Benetton was recognized “for his contribution to innovation in industry, his bold ideas and his lifelong quest for unity, civility and respect among all people.”
 
Designer, inventor and engineer Chuck Hoberman and celebrity stylist and television personality Lilliana Vazquez were the keynote speakers at the event.
 
Luciano Benetton commented: "I am particularly honored and excited to receive this degree from such a prestigious institution in a city that continues to be the beating heart and extraordinary showcase of art and culture. I have always admired the American melting pot, which certainly inspired us in our mission to color the world. I dedicate this recognition to my country, Italy, and above all to young people whom I always invite to dream with courage and optimism for a better civilization”.

Brown, president of FIT noted: "Creativity and innovation are central to FIT’s curriculum and community, and a commitment to diversity is one of our core principles, so Luciano Benetton is a stellar example to our students. He is inspiring in both his career success, with his global outlook and fresh approach to business practice, and his personal values, including a deep humanity and willingness to take on difficult issues."
