Energy efficiency
Benetton’s contribution against climate change takes form through the implementation of initiatives to reduce energy consumption and, as a result, climate-altering gas emissions, associated with the headquarters and direct stores. These projects produced significant benefits in terms of energy savings and lower CO2 emissions.
Benetton Group closely monitors its energy consumption to reduce waste and seek the optimal configuration in the use of systems.
Periodic energy diagnosis carried out at the Ponzano and Castrette head offices make it possible to identify the most critical issues in terms of consumption and to subsequently define and structure an efficiency plan. In particular, the identification of the most critical consumption issues continues to define and structure an effective plan, seeking the highest efficiency possible in terms of energy. In particular, the activity of replacing the lighting systems in some areas of the Ponzano and Castrette offices with high-efficiency, long-lasting LED lamps continues, with investments distributed up to 2030.
Since 2017, the energy feeding the entire Benetton Campus is generated by certified renewable sources (water and ocean).
Thanks to the actions undertaken, also in 2023 Benetton Group optimised and reduced energy consumption in the headquarters.
Finally, in 2023 Benetton Group continued the company’s fleet transition to 100% electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles, supported by the installation of 44 charging stations on the campuses of Ponzano and Castrette.
Regarding stores, the Company continued the installation of LED lighting fixtures throughout 2023, while the design and the restyling pay particular attention to the choice of materials and the reuse of furniture from closures. Benetton Group carried out a benchmarking analysis with regard to criteria of LEED certification for Interior Design and Construction, which measures the quality of life and environmental well-being of the store by promoting a sustainability-oriented approach.
The total value of renewable energy used accounted for 33% of the total energy used in 2023 by offices and directly operated stores. All the renewable energy used is purchased from sources backed by Guarantee of Origin (GO) certificates as proof of validity.
A Guarantee of Origin (GO) is an electronic certificate that verifies the renewable nature of the energy resource. It provides detailed information about the source of the energy, including type of renewable source, date and location of production.
Waste management
Benetton Group operates in compliance with the industry’s regulations and behaves responsibly regarding waste management and its ethical and environmental consequences.
Verde Campus
Launched in 2019, Verde Campus is the project focusing on making the Benetton Group’s headquarters more efficient and sustainable. It includes a series of employee-targeted initiatives aimed at promoting good practices in the environmental field, such as segregated waste collection and saving of water, gas and energy. Verde Campus is a section of the Company’s intranet where employees can find updates on the best practices to adopt.
